Auto Turret
Crafts an automatic defense turret that shoots zombies on its own. Requires ammo from Gunsmith.
Priority: P0 - craft as soon as the blueprint is acquired
Blueprints unlock craftable items that dramatically improve your survival odds in the game. From the game-changing Auto Turret to the flexible Wrench, this page lists every known blueprint, where to find it, and what it builds. See the weapons guide for details on craftable guns like the Ray Gun.
Bake or Die has 11+ known craftable blueprints across three categories: Defense (Auto Turret, Advanced Turret, Spike Machine), Storage & Utility (Wrench, Pro Wrench, Craftable Wooden Shelf), and Special (Ray Gun, Reconstructor Machine). The Auto Turret is the single highest-priority craft in the game — secure it before Day 5 and it passively defends your diner all night. Blueprints are found through three acquisition paths: rescuing trapped NPCs (most reliable early game), looting chests (abandoned houses, Sewers Day 11+, Science Facility), and boss drops (Mad Scientist → Reconstructor Machine; Pumpkin Boss → Bat Rifle — community-reported). Storage Shelf was removed from blueprints in May 2, 2026 and is now bought at the Furniture Store.
Not all blueprints are created equal. Here is the priority order from must-craft-immediately to optional-endgame:
| Priority | Blueprint | Why this order | Earliest obtainable |
|---|---|---|---|
| P0 — Critical | Auto Turret | Passive night defense — single highest-return craft in the game. Without it, you manually defend every wave. | Rescue first NPC |
| P1 — High | Wrench | Reposition turrets, shelves, traps without destroying them. Added May 2, 2026 — changed late-game layout optimization. | Furniture Store (bought, not crafted) |
| P2 — Mid | Advanced Turret | Higher damage + range than standard Auto Turret. Unlocked at Technician Lv3 — requires class investment. | Technician Lv3 |
| P2 — Mid | Spike Machine | Slows + damages zombies at chokepoints. Good for entry funnels but lower priority than turrets. | Chests (random) |
| P3 — Late | Ray Gun (assembled) | Endgame weapon — 4-part assembly (Barrel, Core, Gage, Handle) or Mad Scientist blueprint drop. | Map exploration / Facility boss |
| P3 — Late | Reconstructor Machine | Cosmetic gun upgrades + boss completion tracking. No stat impact — pure progression layer. | Mad Scientist boss drop |
| P3 — Late | Craftable Wooden Shelf | Extra ingredient storage. Useful Day 7+ when ingredient variety expands. | Chests (random) |
Priority order based on community consensus (Pro Game Guides, Games.GG, AllThings.how). Wrench was added May 2, 2026 — before that date, repositioning items required demolition and re-crafting.
Some blueprints are tied to specific classes rather than random chest drops. Knowing which class to level changes your blueprint acquisition strategy:
| Class | Blueprint unlocked | Level required | Cost (Nuggets) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Technician | Auto Turret (free) | Lv2 | 25 |
| Technician | Advanced Turret | Lv3 | 25 |
| Technician | Pro Wrench | Lv3 | 25 |
| None (any class) | Wrench | Bought at Furniture Store | In-game cash |
| None (boss drop) | Reconstructor Machine | Defeat Mad Scientist | Boss fight |
| None (assembly) | Ray Gun | Collect 4 map components | Map exploration |
Technician was re-balanced May 2, 2026: Lv1 now gives Barbed Wire ×2 (was Wooden Spike ×1), Lv2 gives Auto Turret (was Barbed Wire), Lv3 gives Pro Wrench (was Auto Turret).
Defense blueprints produce turrets, traps, and other structures that hold back the zombie wave so you can keep baking. Prioritise the Auto Turret above everything else — it is the highest-return craft in the game. For a full defensive layout strategy see Diner Defense.

Upgraded turret. Technician class unlocks crafting at Level 3.
Lets you pick up and reposition already-placed items (turrets, shelves, spike traps). Essential for optimizing diner layout.
Priority: P1 - craft early to enable layout flexibility
Defensive trap that damages zombies walking over it. Stack zombies into the spike machine for efficient kills and meat collection.
Priority: P1 - early defense staple
Utility blueprints expand your storage capacity and give you tools to reorganise your diner without losing progress. The Wrench (added May 2, 2026) changed late-game layout optimisation completely — see the ingredients page for what to store once you have extra shelves.

Stores items to free up inventory space. As of May 2, 2026 update, Storage Shelf is now purchased from the Furniture Store — no longer a blueprint.
Special blueprints are rare drops tied to boss kills or end-game zones. They unlock the most powerful items in the game.
End-game weapon assembled from 4 components found on the map.
Components: Barrel, Core, Gage, Handle
Crafting station that upgrades guns with unique skins. Blueprint drops from defeating the Mutated Evil Scientist boss in the Evergreen Science Facility.

Blueprints do not appear in any shop — every blueprint must be discovered through exploration or earned from a boss kill. There are three primary sources:
Where: Dilapidated houses scattered across the map
Each rescued NPC unlocks a craftable item blueprint
Where: Mad Scientist (Lab), Sewer Boss (Sewer)
End-game / rare item blueprints
Where: Houses and zone-specific stashes
Mix of blueprints, nuggets, materials
Blueprint availability was verified against Pro Game Guides, Games.GG, and AllThings.how as of 2026-06-16. Check the update log for changes introduced in recent patches.
Blueprints in the game are found in wooden chests scattered throughout the map — in abandoned houses, the Sewers (from Day 11), and the Evergreen Science Facility. Some blueprints drop from bosses: the Mutated Evil Scientist drops the Reconstructor Machine blueprint upon defeat.
The Auto Turret is widely considered the single most valuable craftable item in Bake or Die. It automatically shoots nearby zombies, letting you focus on baking pies during the night. Find the blueprint in chests or progress the Technician class (Lv2 grants one free Auto Turret).
The Wrench (added May 2, 2026) lets you pick up and reposition already-placed items like turrets, shelves, and spike traps. This is invaluable for optimizing your diner layout as you upgrade. A Pro Wrench is unlocked by the Technician class at Lv3.
The Reconstructor Machine is a crafting station blueprint that upgrades guns with unique skins. The blueprint is obtained by defeating the Mutated Evil Scientist boss in the Evergreen Science Facility.
The Auto Turret is the single most valuable blueprint — get it first. It passively shoots zombies all night, letting you focus on baking pies instead of manual defense. The most reliable early acquisition path is rescuing the first trapped NPC; the Technician class also grants one free Auto Turret at Lv2 (25 nuggets). Do not craft a Spike Machine first — it is a supplement, not a replacement for turret coverage.
Two paths to the Ray Gun: (1) assemble four map components — Barrel, Core, Gage, Handle — found scattered across zones, or (2) the Mad Scientist (Mutated Evil Scientist) boss drops the Ray Gun blueprint upon defeat in the Evergreen Science Facility. Both paths can progress in parallel in the same run. The assembly path can start before Day 11; the boss path requires clearing the Facility first.
Yes. The Technician class is the single best blueprint source in the game: Lv1 grants Barbed Wire ×2, Lv2 grants one free Auto Turret (the most valuable craft in the game), and Lv3 unlocks Advanced Turret crafting + Pro Wrench. For 25 nuggets total, Technician gives you the entire turret progression line without relying on random chest drops. Re-balanced May 2, 2026 — pre-rebalance Lv1-3 rewards were different.
Storage Shelf was removed from the blueprint system in the May 2, 2026 Bank & Vault update. It is no longer a craftable blueprint — it is now purchased directly from the Furniture Store (added in the same update, alongside the Bank and Vault buildings). If you are reading an older guide that lists Storage Shelf as a blueprint, that information is outdated. Wrench (also added May 2) is now the primary utility item for diner layout.
